Common Sense Resistance

The Nazis used the tools of democracy to eliminate democracy. We see and hear what's going on with our own eyes, and yet we sit passively by, watching the process of our own destruction as if it were simply a newsreel, a video game, a TikTok reel, or an inconsequential turn of events without personal consequence. How very wrong! How very sad! The disregard of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, habeas corpus, and the rule of law is unmistakable. And yet it continues. This is not the time to stand down. This is not the time for apathy or passivity. The tools of effective resistance are all around us. Will we, the American people, take hold?

Good luck, America. May those with fairness, integrity, and concern for the common good prevail during these turbulent times. May the electorate, as a whole, come to understand the power of the vote and use that power to select candidates who demonstrate integrity and a strong sense of responsibility to their constituents. May we restore our faith in the judiciary and its ability to uphold the rule of law. May we reinforce the concept of equality for all, and strive to identify and correct any injustices that exist, with resolve and compassion. As the Declaration of Independence so clearly states: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” May we embrace the ideology of our heritage.
